Appetite suppressants?
I was just wondering… Is it bad to try to suppress my appetite (with celery, apples, etc) until dinner time? Like.. If I ate oatmeal with cinnamon and almond halves/pieces or an egg for breakfast, and snack on celery and apples throughout the day until dinner time? Also, other appetite suppressant tips? I am getting bummed out on my weight, and want to try to lose it.. Tips greatly accepted.. (: Please and thank you.
Also, I will drink water or green tea throughout the day as well.

Work really hard and take a nap. It worked for me – new job, very exhausting, I’d get off at lunch time, come home so tired I’d fall right asleep and wake up at dinner time or close to there.

No, suppressing your appetite isn’t necessarily bad. Celery and apples are very good for you, after all. You might want to change fruits and veggies once in awhile, though (I’d get tired of just celery and apples!). As long as you aren’t outright starving yourself (it’s not a good way to lose weight). Try to eat healthy for your meals (the oatmeal for breakfast is good). Also, eat more grains (rice, barley, buckwheat – this diet works for my dad when he sticks to it). It may not sound too appetizing, but you can add stuff like chicken (or fish) and veggies to it. Eat more chicken and fish than red meat.

This one works better in the spring and summer (you don’t get too many watermelons in winter). Watermelon is a light food and full of water, and it fills you up quickly. When I eat watermelon, I generally don’t feel like eating a whole lot for the following meal.

Also, a diet with lots of soup is good. Home-cooked soup is better for you, as the canned stuff usually is full of all sorts of unpleasant things.

It’s not the best way to lose weight, if that’s what you are hoping for. You are at your most active during the day, so you have a higher need for energy then. If you starve all day and eat like a bunny, you will more than likely be ravenous by dinner and more likely to overeat as a result. It’s far better to eat frequent smaller meals during the day than to starve yourself. You could just as easily eat a salad and broth based soup for lunch, which will fill your belly with something that at least brings along some nutrition while still filling you up. If you restrict the diet too much, you just end up falling off the diet and making a piggy of yourself, and then hate yourself later. What you suggest is simply setting yourself up to fail. If you want to take off a few pounds, and not feel horribly deprived, and stand a chance of succeeding- stick to a sensible diet low in calories and low in fat, with about 1500 calories per day. If you need some help, check out Weight Watchers plan. It’s not fast, but it works, and you don’t stab yourself in the health or diet foot in the process.

There are several ways to suppress your appetite naturally. You do
not want to starve yourself as this will tell your body to hold on to
the fat already in your body.

Natural Appetite Suppressants
Pinolenic Acid is a nutrient that reduces your appetite naturally. It
also aids in the digestion of dietary fats helping weight loss. Pine
nuts contain pinolenic acid, a naturally occurring polyunsaturated fat
that actually stimulates two powerful hunger suppressing hormones.
Green Tea extract works by promoting thermogenesis, which increases
the metabolic rate, inhibiting fat digestion, and boosting your
energy. It also increases fat oxidation which helps the body use fat
as an energy source.
Coleus is an herb that promotes the breakdown of fat in the fat cells
and aids in weight loss. Coleus stimulates fat metabolism helping fat
loss when dieting.
Protein takes longer to digest and does not affect your blood sugar
in the way that carbohydrates do which suppresses the appetite by
making you feel fuller longer.
Guarana has a stimulant affect much like caffeine, it helps to boost
energy levels and suppress the appetite.

Foods That Suppress Your Appetite
Water is an easy way to suppress your appetite. If you drink an
8-ounce glass of water when you first start feeling hungry you should
notice that it curbs your appetite. If you just drink a full glass of
water and wait 10 minutes you may see that your appetite is either
completely gone or dramatically reduced.
Green vegetables such as lettuce, cabbage, bokchoy, and other leafy
vegetables are very low in calories and they fill your stomach to make
you feel full, turning off the hunger signals in your brain.
Apples are a great appetite suppressing food because the bulky fiber
fills up your stomach and turns off your appetite control hormones
before you overeat.
